About JsmallSoftware.com

jsmallsoftware develops and distributes software under the terms of the GNU General Public License for the Joomla! community. The idea is to develop software that can be easily integrated in a Joomla!-based portal to provide functionality in a simple way, with good emphasis to aesthetics. The two products available, jsmallfib and jsmallist are simple but functional versions of a small file browser and a small list of items. The interesting thing about them is they have been developed as content plugins for Joomla! This means that they can be easily integrated within any Joomla! article created within the CMS. When rendering a normal article, these plugins allow Joomla! to include a file browser or a list respectively.

jsmallfib

jsmallfib is a simple but effective file browser/manager embedded in a normal Joomla! article page. Depending on access levels, users can read or upload files, create folder trees, etc. The main repository can be set either within the Joomla! directory, or, for greater security, outside the web root. This plugin, which is native in both Joomla! 1.5 and 1.6, is ideal if you require simple light-weight file browsing/uploading functionality (to store and share documentation, for example, or to easily manage your website files directly from the front-end). Actions such as file uploads/downloads, and file/folder renaming, removing can optionally be logged. The latest version now ships with Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish translations in addition to English!

jsmallist

jsmallist, native in Joomla! 1.5.x, can be used to manage everything from a simple to-do list to a shopping list. Nested lists (sublists) are also possible. All actions on list items are logged to keep track of the list history.

In both programs permissions for accessing files or item lists are set with the 'command' within the article text. It is possible to set different access levels for unregistered visitors or specific registered user groups, but also for specific registered users individually. All this is done with the command in the article text.

jsmallsoftware will continue to improve its Joomla! extensions (and develop new ones) with its 'keep it simple'-philosophy, to provide functionality when a more complex component is not needed. jsmallsoftware was initially crated by Enrico Sandoli.
